Te Awanga Downs in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand is a 1,000-acre sheep and beef property that has been farmed by Chris and Marki Nilsson and their four sons since 1978.

Today, Chris and Marki's second son, Matt is responsible for running the day to day farm business while his brothers pursue different lives off the farm ranging from owning and running a Merino wool based business to working in a global trading house to working in hospitality. The bonds remain strong and all share a passion for the ongoing development and well being of Te Awanga Downs. Matt and his wife Amy also conduct the management and running of Cape Estate as a unique accommodation and function venue.

Chris's new career as a professional rowing coach has taken the couple to all parts of the world, including two years spent in Great Britain with the Oxford University Boat Club and at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA. Chris was the assistant coach to the US Olympic rowing team for four years and has now completed a four year rowing contract with NZ rowing.

They are now living in Cambridge England where Chris is Chief Coach for Cambridge University Boatclub.
